2nd XI Stroll Through To Round Two

Arun won the toss and made the decision to have a bat - an interesting move given his star opening bat James Diamond was running late due to the Queen opening a library at a school in Shirehampton.

Dave Yates therefore opened with Basi and the Chairman’s cricket went very much like his golf earlier that day, as he chipped his second ball to mid-wicket and spent the remaining 39.4 overs cursing his luck.

Pratty, having recovered from his nosebleed after being asked to bat 3, scored 17 off 26 at a strike rate that some of the Weston batters would have been proud of based on how their innings went.

JD scored 34 off 29, getting out after a nice long chat about golf with the Weston keeper while others searched for the ball he’s just whacked for 6.

The skipper himself made 47* off just 32 balls as we progressed to 150-7 off our 20 overs.

Jonesy opened the bowling and took a wicket first ball while Craig Strachan bowled economically for figures of 3-2-1-1.

The Weston middle order scored 58 off 105 balls as Inam, Stenners, Hithesh, Arun and Pratty made scoring very hard to come by for the hosts.

All in all, an excellent result and hopefully the start of a decent cup run.
