Frenchay VS OBWCC

Fresh from our win at Claverham we were ready to take on a newly promoted WEPL team and hopefully continue our winning ways.

As all 10 of us arrive on time wondering where Gatorade is only to realise he thought it was a home game. A strong candidate for DotD. Then we commence the warm up and established that the outfield was very soft as Stu Mac imprints himself into the ground, every dive creating a crater into the grass.

Willis does the toss, loses, and we’re into bat first, so I tuck into my tea early lovely, including a brownie courtesy of Mrs H superb! Keysell and Ru to open the batting and getting off to a solid start considering the soft pitch and the ball not getting above knee height. In come George H and Crane both scoring in the 40s with some big sixes from George, and some great pitching wedges onto the green from Connor with the outfield plugging. With a good platform of 162-4 on a tricky pitch the rest of the batsmen were able to go out and give it a whack to bring us to a total of 200.

With a big target for the Chay to chase we were feeling confident. Stu and I opened up the bowling with some tidy bowling until the batsmen decides to whack me to all parts bringing Connor on who steadied the ship. As well as bringing Willis on to change things up as they were 51/0. And the skipper strikes making it 59/1 which causes a tumble of wickets including a great catch from Dylan to dismiss their overseas then it was 62/3 and we were back in the driving seat. From then on we continued to get wickets and getting Frenchay all out for 103, and a great win by 97 runs to continue the Willis streak.

As we go round the circle we decided on:

Gatorade (DotD) turning up to the wrong ground and general space cadetness

George Harris (MotM) well batted and bowled 44 & 3 wickets

So the dizzy catch started off with a poor attempt from Keysell (the hitter) meaning he had to do a catch as-well. But George came out on top with a lovely catch after a Keysell and Gatorade fall due to the spinning 🙄.

But overall a great performance from OBWCC onto the league games next week! #willisball
