The rain held off enough during the week to allow our Men's 1XI to get their cricket underway at the picturesque Claverham.
A strong start for the novice skipper losing the toss meant we were put into bat on what looked like a slightly winter affected deck.
A solid start by the top order was cemented by some measured knocks by the middle and lower order notably Alex Lee, Stu MacArthur and the captain himself George Willis.
Having set our B&D Senior Opposition 150 to win off 30 overs Ollie Harris and Stu throttled the top order and restricted them to 37-5 after 12.
This opened the door to Willis (who was knackered after his batting) to mop up the tail alongside Thomas Harvey and a Stu run-out.
We won our first game of the summer by 88 runs and onto Frenchay next week!
A big shout out to Claverham for being fantastic hosts, with the game played in good spirits, but a special big thumbs up to all the Claverham groundforce team whose hard work paid off by making the pitch playable - and the game possible - in the first place. Thanks guys and good luck this season 👍
