On the 3rd June 2021, OWBCC arrived at Barrow Gurney CC for what would be the first of ten midweek friendly fixtures of the summer, and what a start it was. Anirudh Gundimeda and Ben Harris combined to put on a 104 run opening partnership off just 10.4 overs, with Ben Keysell adding an unbeaten half century. Later on Ollie Harris blasted the opposition away with a 5-for-not-many, with Barrow Gurney only managing 121ao, still 76 runs short of OBW’s total.
Other notable performances include unbeaten half centuries from both Anirudh Gundimeda and Alfie Newton in a losing effort against Stoke Bishop. Another unbeaten half century came from Alec New, this time in a 7-run win away at Failand & Portbury whilst basically batting on one leg!
This series of fixtures saw team-mates from all four OBW sides, many playing together for the first time, and making new friends over a post-game drink. Next year sees the introduction of a brand new Bristol Midweek T20 League which OBWCC intend to be a part of.
