#ThrowbackThursday

#Throwback Thursday As many of you will know, this season is our 25th as a club, following the merger of Old Bristolians CC and Westbury CC in 1995. Whilst we may not be out there playing cricket (yet – there’s still hope) we have been using our Saturdays to look back at some classic games, […]

Week 2 #reLIVE Match Reports

Week 2 #reLIVEmatch reports In these strange times of lockdown and no cricket, we’re using our Saturdays to relive some classic matches against the opponents we would have been playing on that day. This week it should have been the 1s away at Brislington, 2s at home to Twyford House, 3s away at Bradley Stoke, […]

More about us

OBWs is a warm, friendly and welcoming club open to all ages, abilities and disabilities. Based in leafy Failand, on the outskirts of Bristol, we’re just a cow-shot or two from the Clifton Suspension Bridge. We’re blessed with having one of the largest playing areas in the region, allowing us to host two league matches at home every Saturday.

Practice facilities include a mobile grass wicket net, three fixed nets and a bowling machine for when our bowlers have had enough. We’ve got a great clubhouse too, managed superbly by Nick and Lisa who provide THE best teas in the league (just ask all our visiting sides!); wonderful facilities for both player and spectator alike.

In 2020 our 1st XI will play in the WEPL Bristol & North Somerset league and our 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI’s will play in the Bristol & District League in Division 3, 10 and 13 respectively. Our junior sides play across the Bristol and District Youth Leagues and North Somerset Youth Cricket Leagues dependent on age group and our Ladies side play in the Gloucestershire Ladies Leagues as well as arranging a number of friendly fixtures throughout the season.

New members

We welcome players, coaches, volunteers and supporters of any age, gender, race and ability. We’re always on the look out for new cricketers; not that our current ones aren’t any good but we just get bored hearing the same old stories. And some relocate to places like London and other small villages, but always end up coming back at some point asking to be let back in. For non-cricketers too, we’re equally keen to hear from anyone who’d like to get involved in the club in some capacity or other. Scoring, umpiring, a bit of groundwork or some light administration – there’s lots of ways to help and be part of an amazing OBW family ! If you’re interested please get in touch!

Nice to see @abevan87 this afternoon and have a socially distant outdoor net at @OBWCC. Shame we couldn’t go for a beer after, but those are the strange times in which we live!

Failand was looking resplendent in the sunshine. https://t.co/GtHWXBDmpn

@DanMcN @Beachy99 @Beachy1978 You’ve got the wrong man there Dan! Tom Beach ( @Beachy99) put these together...not Mark ( @Beachy1978)!

Unless you’re referring to Mark’s position in the batting rankings... 🤔

How about this for a #ThrowbackThursday? @Beachy99 has created some cool visualisations showing how our leading batters and bowlers have changed throughout our history! https://t.co/vviTAgngom
