More about us

OBWs is a warm, friendly and welcoming club open to all ages, abilities and disabilities. Based in leafy Failand, on the outskirts of Bristol, we’re just a cow-shot or two from the Clifton Suspension Bridge. We’re blessed with having one of the largest playing areas in the region, allowing us to host two league matches at home every Saturday.

Practice facilities include a mobile grass wicket net, three fixed nets and a bowling machine for when our bowlers have had enough. We’ve got a great clubhouse too, managed superbly by Nick and Lisa who provide THE best teas in the league (just ask all our visiting sides!); wonderful facilities for both player and spectator alike.

In 2021 our 1st XI will play in the WEPL Bristol & North Somerset league and our 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI’s will play in the Bristol & District League in Division 3, 10 and 13 respectively. Our junior sides play across the Bristol and District Youth Leagues and North Somerset Youth Cricket Leagues dependent on age group and our Ladies side play in the Gloucestershire Ladies Leagues as well as arranging a number of friendly fixtures throughout the season.

New members

We welcome players, coaches, volunteers and supporters of any age, gender, race and ability. We’re always on the look out for new cricketers; not that our current ones aren’t any good but we just get bored hearing the same old stories. And some relocate to places like London and other small villages, but always end up coming back at some point asking to be let back in. For non-cricketers too, we’re equally keen to hear from anyone who’d like to get involved in the club in some capacity or other. Scoring, umpiring, a bit of groundwork or some light administration – there’s lots of ways to help and be part of an amazing OBW family ! If you’re interested please get in touch!
