And so here it is, the start of the 2021 season which, for two of our teams represents their first opportunity in their new divisions following promotions at the end of the 2019 season.

The 1st XI begin life back in WEPL under a new captain in Russ Baker after Stu Macarthur’s decision to hand over the reigns following the shortened 2020 campaign. They start at home to old friends and fellow promoted side Golden Hill in what promises to be an exciting start to the season.

Dan Langan’s youthful-looking 2nd XI make the short trip to Failand & Portbury to face an opposition that are always buoyed by the presence of a tree in the middle of their outfield.

By contrast, Dad’s Army…I mean the 3rd XI…led by skipper Jon Sheeran travel to Winterbourne knowing they’ve got a wealth of experience under their belts as they go in search of an opening day win, whilst Craig Strachan’s 4th XI will face Thornbury at home with a team that includes Club Chairman Ross Dallimore making his return to playing after a number of seasons of having to watch from the sidelines.

We wish all 4 of our sides the very best for the whole season, and also especially for this weekend!
