Team News - 1 & 2 August

With last weekend seeing an early wash-out for the 1st team, this Saturday represents their second attempt at a return to competitive action in the WEPL Covid Group competition, whilst the 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI all enter their respective B&D Pods this weekend.

Stu Mac’s 1st XI will play at home against Bristol, Dan Langan takes the 2nd XI to the picturesque home of Barrow Gurney, Jon Sheeran’s 3rd XI take on Wrington at Failand, whilst Craig Strachan takes an unprecedented squad of 19 on the short journey to Failand & Portbury after some superb collaboration between the two clubs demonstrating the true spirit of “getting the game on.”

Strachan commented “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Failand & Portbury for agreeing to merge our two squads and for working together with us to the benefit of members of both clubs. Sadly our hosts didn’t have enough players for our scheduled Pod fixture, but this arrangement means we’ll still be playing 40 over cricket in a competitive but friendly spirit, which I know all our guys are hugely looking forward to.”

Ben Harris will then looking to build on his successful start as Sunday captain with a trip to Staplegrove.

Best of luck to everyone representing the club this weekend!
