Why join us?
There’s a team with your name on it, whatever your skill and aspiration – with 4 Saturday sides playing in the WEPL and Bristol & District leagues; friendly fixtures and ladies matches on a Sunday; cup matches and youth games throughout the week
You’ll find plenty of like-minded souls ready to share a story or two over a drink – whether you’re a self-confessed geek who eats, sleeps and breathes the game, or you over indulged in your youth and are stepping back into it again – or you’re completely new to the sport after the excitement of the World Cup – we have all sorts here!
We appreciate some of you have a life outside cricket … honestly! Family and other social commitments can sometimes get in the way of regular cricket over the summer so whilst we’d love you to be available every week, yes, we know you’ll sometimes have other plans; just let us know when you’re back and we’ll update you on what you’ve missed!
Whichever side you turn out for we’re ‘one club’. Good natured banter both within and between teams is at the heart of OBW’s culture and no matter what side you play for everyone is always keen to know how you get on, win, lose or tie … as long as you enjoy yourself and so do your team-mates!
Our social fun continues throughout the year – from winter nets in January, to a season from April to September, then 3 months to reminisce on the fun from the summer, you’ll usually find a cohort of friends to socialise with at the regular haunt of Racks in Clifton.
We’re accredited with ECB Clubmark demonstrating that we keep pace with the best practice in encouraging and delivering high quality community cricket in a safe, effective and child-friendly way.
Very simply, there’s no club quite like OBW’s – besides the banter, beer and barbecues in 2021 OBWs still found time to get our 3rd XI promoted, see the 2nd XI produce a Cupset to knock Division 1 opposition out of the Tony Hitch Knockout and in previous years have had numerous players representing the Bristol & District League side and had countless youth players playing representative and district cricket for Somerset and Gloucestershire at U17 and U15 level. Added to that we enjoyed the most fantastic of teas lovingly prepared by Nick and Lisa every Saturday! Where else would you prefer to spend your summer ?!
